Students to Perform “Into the Woods”

March 18-27, the Miramonte drama and choir departments will be putting on a production of Into the Woods, a play about fractured fairy tales. Directed by Sarah Downs and Ron Pickett, and produced by Roxanne Brewer and Natalie Wheeler, the play incorporates elements from the plots of “Jack and the Beanstalk,” “Cinderella,” “Rapunzel,” “The Baker and the Baker’s Wife,” and “Little Red Riding Hood,” and other fairy tales.

“[The plot] is really complicated,” said junior Allison Kreuser, who plays Little Red Riding Hood. “It’s a mix of the fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm. All the stories end up being interwoven together. Supposedly it’s a comedy.”

The Miramonte production is roughly two hours long, shortened from the three hour original.

“We didn’t want to make it as long as the original,” said Kreuser. “We edited it a bit, but we tried to keep it mostly the same.”

The 34 cast members have been rehearsing since January.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased via the link on Blackboard or at the door on the days of the performances. Student tickets are $10 for gerneral admission and $12 for reserved seating. Adult tickets are $15 for general admission and $12 for reserved seating.
