Famous pianist Tanya Gabrielian is coming to Miramonte Thursday, March 19 during second period to give an outreach concert to students and staff members.

Gabrielian has performed in many world renown places including the Sydney Opera House, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Wigmore Hall in London, the Salle Cortot in Paris, and Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall in New York. She has also performed with acclaimed orchestras such as the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, New London Sinfonia, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra.

Gabrielian’s tour schedule led her to the Bay Area where she will be giving an educational performance at Miramonte. She will also be performing at Stanley Middle School, Orinda Intermediate School, Campolindo High School and Acalanes High School.

“She is on an educational tour giving performances around the area. Part of her schedule allowed for her to give outreach concerts. She is focusing on music students to give not just a concert, but a lesson where she demonstrates new techniques and ideas,” Band teacher Ari Gorman said.

Even though this concert is intended for music students, Miramonte is making it available to all teachers and students.

“Teachers and students will hopefully gain a new and more developed understanding of classical music and its place in modern society and that it’s still important, exciting and unique,” Gorman said.
