2009-2010 High School Sports Report Card

This year, over 76 percent of Miramonte students dedicated their time and effort to participate in a Miramonte sport. But athletes at Miramonte are student-athletes, meaning half of their commitment should be to academics. So how did Miramonte athletes do when the report cards came?  Here at Miramonte the average GPA for an athlete was 3.20, which compared to the state average of 2.47 was leaps and bounds ahead of the pack. “My philosophy has always been putting academics first and never athletics,” said Principal Adam Clark. “I think the reason why we do so well in athletics and why Miramonte is so respected for our sports programs is because of academic focus. If students focus in class then it will translate on the field.”
But was this correct for every sport? The following table displays each varsity team’s mean unweighted GPA, along with their record and other notable information.
