After intense preseason training, this year’s boys lacrosse team is ready to win. The team looks strong and is primed for a successful season.
Going into the season, the team hopes to place first in the Division II NCS. This year high school lacrosse was broken up into two different divisions based on the size of the school.

Miramonte, being one of the smaller high schools, was named a Division II school.

Their secret weapon for success this season will be a strong defense. With players like Brian Raaka ‘11, Brian Friel ‘11, Carson Mead ‘11, and Mike Sappio ‘11 starting on the defensive line, the team knows they can keep anyone from getting by. Their defensive players will be key when it comes to winning NCS.

Some other key players for the team are Gabe Gilleran ‘11, Alex Nicolaou ‘11, and Chase Hildeburn ‘12. This year’s captains, Mead, Nicolaou, Raaka, Sappio, and Gilleran, motivate their team members through unification and teamwork.

They believe that the key to success will be a thirst for victory from each person and the team as a whole. Also, the decision making for the team will be done by everybody, further unifying and exciting each team member.

“In terms of motivation, it is important to make sure the team stands as one, not as individuals to ensure that every player is motivated to win for his fellow team-mates and not just himself,” said Raaka. “That’s the key to winning these games.”
