After falling to Marin Catholic last week, Miramonte defeated Eureka with a decisive 55-19 route this past Saturday, at Eureka.
Due to injuries, third-string quarterback, Nick Sheehan ‘13 made an impressive debut by completing 18 of 28 passes for 257 yards, including six touchdowns. Sheehan connected with multiple receivers throughout the game. Marshall Duetz 13’ finished with six catches for 84 yards and three touchdowns, and in addition Zati Williams 13’ had 131 receiving yards, five receptions and tw touchdowns.
Dominic Paoletti 14’ also added to the aerial attack by catching a 42 yard touchdown strike from Sheehan. Then showing his versatility, broke out a 45 yard run for a touchdown.
“I thought we played a good game,” said Paoletti. “With Drew injured a big hole had to be filled. Nick did a great job stepping in.”
While Miramonte’s offense was on display the whole day, the defense held their own as they limited Eureka to only 19 points.
“On the defensive side, we missed a lot of tackles but overall had a solid performance. It’s early in the season, but I’m proud of the way we played,” said Paoletti.
The Matadors face a tough opponent next week as they play the Analy Tigers. Gametime is Friday at 7 p.m. at Miramonte. Make sure to come out and support!
