The women’s tennis team is starting the year off strong with a 2-1 record. With four new players on the team, they look forward to seeing leaders rise and young players increase their skills.

After crushing American 9-0 on Thursday, the Lady Mats are gearing up to play Mission San Jose this afternoon at home.

“Mission San Jose will be tough, but I think our line-up will be challenging to beat,” said Kady Richardson ‘14.

The team consists of four seniors, six juniors, six sophomores, and three freshmen.

“The team is really bonding well, and everyone is really supportive and fun,” said Holly Bohuslav ‘16.

Coach Mike McCollom, along with assistants Kitty Wendt and Richard Westin returned this season.

The Lady Mats have a long season ahead, filled with lots of challenging opponents. Nevertheless, they are prepared to bring their game and strive towards the NCS Championship.

“The team is really strong this year. Everyone is very talented and brings something unique to the team,” said Richardson.
