Girls Volleyball Struggles with New Season

A new year, new coach and a new team created a rocky start for the Miramonte girls varsity volleyball team. The first game against Amador Valley resulted in a three game loss.

“We played well but it was the first time everyone on our team had played together so it was a little bit rocky,” said Brigitte Legalette ’14.

There are only two seniors on the team this year, Beryl Slezak and Ali Pietrykowski. Slezak and Piertykowski are this year’s captains and have been on varsity for the past three years.

Coach Dave Masdeo has been preparing the girls for a successful year as a team. Masdeo was the assistant coach last year and now has stepped into the position of head coach.

The girls next game is this Thursday against Granada High School for an away game.
