Cross Country Runs Into Problems

Cross country ran at the Clovis Invitational in Fresno last Saturday. Both the boys and girls runners placed fourth in this 5k course. Tyler Hanson ‘13 won in the varsity boys division with a time of 15:36, a personal record.

Instead of the preferred varsity team of seven runners, only six girls and five boys competed at this Invitational. Dillon Reed ‘13 did not run due to shin splints, Hanna Abruzzo ‘14 ran on the JV team due to respiratory problems, Jeff Lee ’14 did not run because of problems with his achilles heel, and Andrea Tamminga ‘14 was out with the flu.

Sierra Ryder ‘14 is out for the rest of the season because of a reoccurring heart problem.

Mark Tamminga ‘13 placed 13th with a time of 16:30 and Charlie Zamanian placed 24th with a time of 16:47.

Sarah Rockwood ‘15 came in 20th place with a time of 20:12, Ashley Kawaguchi ‘13 ran a time of 20:12 putting her in 22nd place, and Lindsey Buckel ‘14 came in with a time of 20:28 putting her in 28th place.

The team’s next meet will be held in Los Angeles, the runners will compete in the Mount Sac Invitational, the biggest high school meet in North America.
