The Lady Mats varsity tennis team defeated Campolindo for the second time 5-4 Tuesday at home.
The team split singles 3-3 with Campolindo, and Miramonte won 2 out of 3 doubles matches, keeping things close with the Matadors’ most competitive league rivals.
Although Monday was a school holiday, a captains’ practice was held at 9 a.m. in preparation for the team’s much-anticipated match. “We felt it was important to be as ready as possible to face Campo, so we decided to put in the extra hours practicing,” captain Leah See ‘13 said.
This win leaves the team undefeated in league play, and also puts the Lady Mats in a more favorable spot for NCS ranking.
“Everyone really stepped up this match,” See said. “Playing Campo is always super competitive, and the team worked really hard and put it’s best foot forward.”
The Mats take on Acalanes today in an away match at 3:30.
