Last week the Miramonte men’s water polo team competed in a total of six games. The Mats started the week out right with an easy victory over Alhambra 16-5 at home.

On Thursday, the boys faced off against the number one ranked team in the nation, Mater Dei. They suffered a loss 15-7. “Of course we always want to win but our main goal going into a game against such a good team is getting better,” Jack Conner ‘12 said.

The Mats placed 8th out of 16 teams at the North vs South Tournament in Palo Alto. On Friday, the men won their first game against Vista North 12-9, but lost in the second game of the day 11-8 to Los Alamitos. The next morning the Mats lost again 9-6 to Agoura. The Mats were determined to win the last game of the tournament against El Toro, and tied the game 5-5 at the end of the third quarter. Despite their efforts, El Toro clenched the victory 8-7.
