The men’s varsity water polo team triumphed over their rival Campolindo 13-5 last Wednesday clenching the Diablo Valley League Championship title. “It’s always great to beat Campo. They talk trash so it’s good to shut them up,” Captain Jack Fellner ‘13 said.

Coming off their championship win, the boys defeated La Canada 15-8 and Bishop 9-7 on Friday in the first two rounds of the 2012 Memorial Cup. On Saturday the team suffered an upsetting loss to Long Beach Wilson 10-8.

“We didn’t play well against Long Beach. If we would have played our best we could have potentially won the game and even the tournament,” Fellner said. The boys came back with a victory over Newport Harbor 11-8 to clench 3rd place.

The men are seeded first in the North Coast Section Championship. Come out on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. to watch your Mats take on Liberty in the first round.
