Miramonte Triumphs

Miramonte defeated Las Lomas 45-34 last Friday away.

Marshall Deutz ‘13 had a monster game and carried the Matadors with 228 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns.

His first score came off a one-yard rush, which started Miramonte off strongly. Las Lomas countered this with a six yard run from Adam Wood ‘13.

However, this is when Miramonte started rolling. On the next drive, Duetz broke out an 80-yard run for a score and after stopping Las Lomas on downs, Drew Anderson ’14 threw a six-yard strike to Zati Williams ‘13.

The play of the game came at the end of the first half, when Duetz intercepted a pass and ran it back 67 yards for the touchdown. This gave Miramonte momentum and it carried into the second half.

Although, Las Lomas played well offensively, the Knights couldn’t contain the Matador offense.

Williams had another impressive performance as he caught six catches for 132 yards including a 61-yard touchdown and Anderson also stayed consistent with 224 yards passing and two touchdowns.

You can catch the Matadors again in action this Friday at home for Senior Night against Alhambra.
