Miramonte triumphed at home last Friday in a 48-27 victory over Alhambra. With the victory, Miramonte earns a spot in the NCS Division III playoffs.

Miramonte’s offense brought out all the tricks this evening coming up three touchdown passes from their half-backs for momentum-changing scores.

After tying up the game at seven in the first quarter, Miramonte fooled Alhambra, and recovered an onside kick, which would later result in a 23-yard pass from running back Conor Bruen ‘13 to Will Fuller ‘14.

Alhambra then responded by driving down the field and scoring a two-yard touchdown from running back Taylor Poyadue ’13. Miramonte then scored nine unanswered points to end the half to make it 23-14.

While only leading 26-20 at the end of the third, Miramonte caught momentum and scored three touchdowns in the fourth to close the game. Alhambra had no answer as the Matador defense shut them down in the final quarter.

Quarterback Drew Anderson ’14 ended with 242 yards throwing and one touchdown and receiver Zati Williams ’13 had six receptions for 143 yards and three touchdowns. Poyadue was also very impressive as he ran for 290 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
