Women’s Lacrosse Wins Against Berkeley High

The women’s lacrosse team experienced both ups and downs in their games last week. On March 5 the team played at Berkeley High and won 17-11.
This was a big win for the Lady Mats and everyone played well. Lauren Ramirez ‘16 had an exciting game and scored her first goal of her high school lacrosse career. In addition, Caroline Tague ‘15 scored five goals and Hannah Friel ‘14 scored six goals. Although the final score makes it seem like it was an easy win, the Lady Mats were tied with Berkeley by the end of the first half. After an aggressive talk with their coach at half-time, the team got their act together and persevered for the win.
On March 8 the team took on Redwood and lost 7-9. Described as a rough game, the Lady Mats made the most of their team without captain Lauren Dougherty ‘13, but couldn’t execute a win.
“It was really hard to keep the team together without Lauren playing with us,” said Olivia Vigo ‘16.
Dougherty suffered from a concussion last week and took the week off. The lacrosse team hopes to win their next game at Dublin on March 12.
