Baseball’s Season Comes to an End

Drew Anderson, Staff Writer

The Mats season has come to and end after a respectable late run at the playoffs. Monday the Mats beat Castlemont seven to one, but couldn’t capitalize on their momentum and dropped their last two games to Las Lomas and Alhambra.                                                                                                                                                                                                   Monday the Mats jumped out to a good start and scored three runs in the first ining and got a strong pitching performance from Andrew Rosenzweig who gave up only one run in the outing.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Tuesday the Mats continued league play taking on Las Lomas and lost in a tough five to four loss. Bennett Stehr ’14 had three hits in the affair and Connor Nyman ‘14 drove in two runs. The Mats went with a variety of pitchers in the game including James Vaccaro ’16, Alex Gutierrez ’14, Matt Cobley ’13, Cameron Nikban ’14, and Connor Casey ’13.                                                                                                                                                                                                                In the Mats final game on Thursday they took on Alhambra who came to play and scored ten runs in the game. Despite a few scattered hits the Mats failed to score enough runs and ended up losing ten to three.                                                                                                                                                                                                              “Its obviously sad the season had to end without playoffs but I’m not disappointed in how my teammates played, I think they played hard, and there’s nothing else you can do,” said Bennett Stehr ’14.
