Women’s Volleyball Falls Short Against Granada

Spencer Hardwick

The Lady Mats Varsity V-Ball squad faced off against Granada High School yesterday in a Matadome showdown that pitted Matador against Matador. This was the Mats home opener in which they hoped to bounce back from a 3-10 season last year. The Mats traded sets back and forth with Granada, losing the first and third, and winning the second and forth. The game came down to the fifth set which is only played to 15 points. The Mats fell behind early on, but staged a seemingly miraculous comeback off of clutch plays by Lauren Foster ’15 and several key spikes by Kacey Sorenson ’14. The Mats tied it 13-13, and it seemed that a come from behind victory was near. But then the Mats lost two unlucky points that led to the end the game, and one Matador team was left disappointed, and the other celebrating the close victory.
