The Lady Mats Waterpolo team took down the Northgate Broncos, 16-3, on Wednesday Sep. 11. The easy blowout took place in the Matadors pool, with senior captain’s Nicola Gonzales, Katie Caron, and Dominique Clark leading the way.

Hailey Eberle ‘16, the only sophomore on varsity, has really stepped up this year by setting an example for all underclassmen by being a key player with the drive to succeed.

“I thought the game was a lot of fun because I have friends on the Northgate team. And we played well as a team since we were constantly communicating,” Eberle said.

“It wasn’t a very competitive game, so I wouldn’t say there were really any ‘key’ plays, but if I had to say something it would be our counterattacks. They were very aggressive and we scored off those a lot,” Kristen Hong ‘15 said. The Lady Mats started off on the right foot for the 2013 season by winning their first game.

This weekend the team will participate in the Acalanes tournament starting Friday, Sep. 13.
