Mats Soccer Takes 3rd in Winter Fest Tournament

Mats soccer kicks off the season ending 3rd overall in Winterfest tournament.
Although the Mats forfeited first game against Irvington due to logistics, they turned it around for the better and tied second game 2-2 against Mission San Jose. The Mats stomped Berean Christian 4-0. The Irvington game was re-scheduled, Mats won 1-0.
“The goals for this season are to make NCS, develop better as a team under our new coach, and to do better than we did last year,” sophomore Joseph Wang said.
New head coach Billal Samy dives into his first high school soccer coaching experience, and he also coaches for Lamorinda Soccer Club on the side.
“ I think that we have a good team and are playing well together, but right now there are couple of absences due to sports and injuries, ” Wang said.
