The Lady Mats beat the Alhambra Bulldogs with ease last Thursday night under the bright lights of the Matadome. The game was a walk in the park for Miramonte, who won the game in straight sets 3-0. This game saw the return of the previously injured Maddy Bates ’15 and Caroline Schafer ’17, who is seeing some playing time on the hardwood of the Matadome. The Mats were fresh from their toppling of the Dougherty Valley in their first league game, and they were feeling good about the upcoming game.

“We really wanted to come out strong and finish fast, ” said sophomore Emily Fabian ’16. “I think it was the first time we got home before 8 from a volleyball game.”

And finish fast the Mats did indeed. They won the first set 25-8, and the second 25-21 after an attempted comeback by Alhambra. But after their failed attempt, things were all downhill for the Bulldogs. Led by key points by Maddie Goodreault ’14 and Brigitte Legallet, the Matadors won the third set with ease and with that went on to 2-1 in league play. Next week they take on Las Lomas on the road, looking for their third league win of the season.
