Miramonte Wrestling Gears Up For Season

Coming into the 2013-14 wrestling season, the Matadors look stronger than ever. “Our team is getting older and more mature, so I think we will definitely have some competitive success,” team captain Owen Chang ‘15 said.

Along with Chang, the team is led by Aidan Kohr ‘14 and Alex Jang ‘15. Coming off of a tough season last year, the more experienced team looks like a serious threat to even the toughest teams in their league. “Dougherty Valley is definitely our toughest competition, but I think we have a chance of beating them this year,” Justin Joss ‘15 said. Another difficult match for the Mats last year was against Campolindo, however both Chang and Joss like their odds this year. “Campo lost a lot of seniors this year and all of our players returned, so we should be able to pull out a victory,” Joss said.

The team went from no seniors and only a one junior to one senior and a strong force of juniors, and this upper class leadership should bring success to the Mats. However, the freshmen should not be overlooked. The young wrestlers have been working hard all off-season, and look to take it to the competition.
