Day In the Life: Steph Curry

Spencer Hardwick and Maddie Geary

Often spotted running around the beautiful Cascade Lake with with his wife Ayesha, or working on his short game at Orinda Country Club, Stephen Curry is one of the most famous people to ever step foot inside Orinda. The super star point guard of the Golden State Warriors, who are currently ranked second in the Western Conference, moved to Orinda over the summer. After he purchased a house on Camino Sobrante, this Splash Bro was seen all over Orinda, and as a result fans and non-fans alike are buzzing about having seen him in town. In an interview with his beautiful wife, we stepped into a day in the life of the famous couple.
Previously having lived in Oakland, the Currys decided they needed to move to a more kid-friendly atmosphere to raise their family.
“Nothing against Oakland, but we needed something a little more comforting for our little girl Riley to grow up in. We wanted her to have many opportunities to get involved with the community,” Ayesha said.
So far, the Currys’ time in Orinda has been well-spent and loved. “There is so much to do here. We love it!”
When asked to name some of their favorite destinations around Lamorinda, Ayesha replied with a few restaurants including Siam Orchid as well as the park just a few minutes from their house. The Currys’ also are interested in joining Oakwood and OCC.
“Currently we are waitlisted at Oakwood, but we are hoping that will change soon. We have gone a few times just to try it out and I loved it. It’s a great facility,” Ayesha said. “We are also contemplating joining OCC, but Stephen would only be able to golf over the summer. So, we are currently in the process of weighing the pros and cons.”
Stephen has an extremely busy schedule. He leaves early in the morning to get to San Francisco to attend practice, gets home around two or three p.m., and then has to deal with interviews and other media tabloids.
When asked how he makes time to be a good father and husband, Ayesha said, “He leaves the nights open to spend time with his family. We always end the day with a little HGTV or Modern Family. We are pretty boring like that.”
He plans to get involved with the Lamorinda community when his busy schedule opens up.
When asked about her passions, Ayesha brought up her love for cooking.
“I am obsessed with cooking and trying new things,” Ayesha said. “My dream would be to eventually open up a restaurant in Orinda. Maybe someday, when life isn’t so hectic, it will happen.”
