Outside Lands, Lollapalooza, and BottleRock are three of the most popular summer music festivals for students and staff at Miramonte. From the jaw dropping lineups to endless food vendors, these festivals pack a punch.
This year the headliners for Outside Lands covered a diverse range of genres. Foo fighters checked off rock, Odesza – EDM, Kendrick Lamar – rap, and Fisher covered house music. “I really had a good time at Outside Lands this year, compared to last year. The lineup was better in my opinion and having the festival be such a fun and secluded area like Golden Gate Park made it ten times more fun,” junior Wyatt Feusier said. Feusier went on to talk about Odesza being “electrifying” and “Immersive”.
Along with the lineup, the food scene at Outside Lands did not disappoint. There were a staggering 94 food vendors, ensuring there was something for everyone. “I had the best festival food I have ever had at Outside Lands this year. The Kobe beef and truffle burger I had was to die for and definitely my favorite from the weekend,” sophomore Brody Matoso said. Food ranged from Indian to Korean, kebabs, and even a food truck dedicated to bringing back the “choco taco.”
BottleRock Napa Valley swept music aficionados off their feet this year, leaving behind an unforgettable weekend for many. The festival is known for its euphoric and electric lineup curated of the top rap, pop, and rock artists including Lil Nas X, Post Malone, Tove Lo, and The Smashing Pumpkins. The stages came alive with performances that left the audiences mesmerized.
“Post Malone hit differently,”junior Harry Smith said. Malone came out swinging, playing his top songs first: “Rockstar” and “Better Now.” “The pyrotechnics and light shows were really good too,” Smith said. The vibrant colors mixed with the stagnant and fast moving lights offered an unforgettable experience for fans.
Lollapalooza was an electric whirlwind of music and excitement, creating a captivating experience for everyone that went. Artists like Billie Eilish and Lana Del Rey’s stage presence left the audience in awe and created an unforgettable dimension. Lollapalooza and Outside Lands were very comparable this year because of the lineups, as high-profile artists such as Kendrick Lamar and Odesza performed at both. The two festivals mainly differed in their locations and length. While Outside Lands, Bottle Rock, and Lollapalooza each bring their own individuality to the festival scene with diverse lineups and memorable experiences, the choice is ultimately up to you and your music taste.
