The winter spirit week of Dec 2 jump-starts the holiday season three weeks before break commences.
Leadership holds dress-out spirit days and lunchtime activities for students to celebrate the upcoming holidays and various winter traditions. The spirit week, held two weeks before finals, is designed to uplift students’ spirits before exams begin. “I love getting to wear fun outfits that I normally wouldn’t wear to school. The winter spirit weeks have also always kept me motivated before finals week,” junior Avrey Freer said.
Monday:
To start the week off in comfort, students wore pajamas and watched “Home Alone” in the gym during lunch.
Tuesday:
Next, students wore red and white for Tuesday and enjoyed hot chocolate and candy canes on the quad at lunch.
Wednesday:
Wednesday is “Ski Day.” Students dressed in ski attire such as ski pants, puffers, gloves, goggles, and beanies. They also competed in a gingerbread house-making contest on the quad at lunch. “The person in front directs the other person on how to build the gingerbread house. The person behind puts their hands through the person directing so they can’t see the gingerbread house,” rally leader Katrina White said. The juniors came out on top, winning the competition with their organized decorations.
Thursday:
Since Thursday is “Sweater Weather”, students should show off their coziest, most festive sweaters. At lunch, students have the opportunity to join leadership in Room 333 for cookie decorating.
Friday:
Friday is “Winter Wonderland.” Students will wear all white and play in a snowball fight (dodgeball) in the gym at lunch.

There will also be a winter rally on Jan. 10 after winter break to conclude the celebration of the holiday season.
