Back to School Night went digital for the 2020-2021 school year at Miramonte on Aug 20. Back to School Night is when teachers inform parents about the upcoming year. Parents received links to ten minute video introductions from their child’s teachers. Teachers put  links in Canvas to additional information about their course. There was also a YouTube live stream from Principal Julie Parks and others of the Miramonte Administrative team.

Back to School night is an annual event for the Miramonte community. In addition to videos sent to parents. “Back to School Night 2020 looked just as you might expect something to look in 2020 – a bit different than ever before,” Parks said.

“I wish we could meet in person, but the upside of doing it virtually means that parents have a digital recording of the guidelines and procedures that they can digest more slowly, instead of trying to rush to the next period wondering where to find room 455,” digital design teacher Stacey Churchill said.

“It was nice getting to check in with my daughter’s teachers virtually, since I didn’t get to meet them in person this year,” Shannon Bradley, Miramonte parent said. With safety precautions under effect for social meetings, events have gone through changes.

“It’s nice to put a name to a face, because when we have Back to School night at school, some parents can’t show up and get to know the teacher,” freshman Sabrina Hernandez said.
