The new Spider-Man movie is set to release on Jul. 31, 2026, and has great expectations from the Marvel fanbase. The movie’s trailer has revealed many hidden easter eggs connecting back to past movies.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the fourth movie in the newest collection of movies starring British actor Tom Holland playing Spider-Man. Brand New Days release date is 5 years after the last movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home. Since then, many easter eggs have been found.
Some of the most famous Easter eggs from Spider-Man: No Way Home include the “Rogers: The Musical” easter egg, when MJ and Peter swing through Times Square, and a billboard in the background is advertising a musical. The musical is based on Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America, whose life was affected by the “Blip” from Avengers: Endgame.
Another surprising easter egg is when Peter pushes his way through a crowd, you may notice that someone is holding up a sign that reads “Devil in Disguise”. This could be referencing the MCU comic book villain “Daredevil,” who also happens to be Peter Parker’s lawyer. This could also be connected to the universe’s devil Mephisto, who is connected to Peters Aunt Mays death in the Spider-Man comics.
Many easter eggs have yet to be confirmed by the creators of the movies. Brand New Day is not expected to be the finale to this Spider-Man series, but it is likely that many of the past movies’ Easter eggs may be expanded on in the next movie.
With the recent release of the movie’s first trailer, Marvel fans have been able to point out many easter eggs that could potentially connect many details between the new movie and the recent trilogy.
One hidden easter egg from the trailer is seen when Peter opens the note that he intended to read to MJ after her memories of him being Spider-Man were erased. Brand New Day is set four years after No Way Home, when he originally wrote the letter. The fact that Peter held onto the note after all this time may suggest that he regrets not ever reading it to MJ. “I hope the movie will focus on Peter’s life now that he’s all alone, and hopefully the movie will return to the classic street Spider-Man roots like in the original Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies,” Sophomore Charlie Tate said.
In the trailer, it can be seen that Peter generates his own webs straight from his body to catch himself from falling off a building. In the recent trilogy, Spider-Man’s webs came from his suit, so this suggests that Peter has mutated and can create unlimited organic webs similar to some of the comic books and the Tobey Maguire movies.
In the trailer we see someone strapped to a chair in some form of a cell. This person is most likely a mutant or superhuman similar to Spider-Man. It is not revealed who they are being held by, but this could reveal that Peter is in danger if he is revealed to be a mutant.
Another interesting easter egg can be found when we see the famous group known as the Shadowy Assassin Organization, originally from the Netflix series “Daredevil”, is seen engaging in a fight with Spider-Man. Marvel is known for editing pieces of the movie out during trailers, making sure not to leak plot points. In the scene, there is a lot of space below Spider-Man on screen, which may suggest that he is not fighting alone.
The movie is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who is known for directing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Brand New Day is not scheduled to be the finale to this Spider-Man universe. Local theatres, including Cinemark Walnut Creek, will show the movie upon its release.
