Cards, dice, games, and the other things. On Saturday, April 18, The class of 2027 made its way over to the Sequoyah Country Club in the Oakland Hills to enjoy “The Ultimate Heist” themed prom. Hosted by the Miramonte Leadership class, the event included meals, drinks, a photobooth, blackjack tables, and more.
The event was based on “Ocean’s Eleven,” a movie about a group of stylish criminals who pull off a high-end casino heist in Las Vegas. To follow the theme, the event pulled guests into a luxurious and sophisticated setting, covered in dark colors, gold accents, and a red and black color theme.
Prom is a canon high school event for many high school students. Some use it as a stress distractor while others use it as an opportunity to hang out with friends before the end of high school. Whatever it was, many Miramonte students enjoyed the classic event.
“The highlight of my night was playing blackjack with friends,” junior Bradley Egan said.
“My highlight was talking with friends,” senior Nicole Yeo said. Many students spent the majority of Prom with the people they care about, whether that was a date or friends.
Starting at 5:30, students were expected to arrive at Miramonte to begin bus check-ins. After everyone was accounted for, the attendees all gathered to take a class picture on the quad. At exactly 6:30, the buses loaded and departed into the Oakland Hills.
Arriving around 7:00, as attendees entered the venue, they were greeted with apple cider beverages, kick-starting the event.
Provided through the purchase of a ticket, each attendee was given a buffet dinner, dessert, and unlimited drinks. Inside the venue was a large candy buffet filled with red candy to match the theme.
Throughout the location, there were many activities to entertain the guests. Inside were typical casino games, such as blackjack, poker, roulette, and craps. Outside of the building were foosball tables, beanbag tosses, and tic-tac-toe. There was also a large leaf background for students to take photos, along with props.
Around 10:00, the event began to wrap up as all of the Miramonte students were shuttled back to Miramonte. At around 10:30, attendees arrived back to campus, bringing Miramonte 2026 Junior Prom to a close.
Though Prom isn’t always what people expect it to be, many still enjoyed participating in a classic high school occasion. When asked what they would remember about prom, many said that they would remember how much fun they had.
“Since I’m a senior, I didn’t expect to enjoy myself, being surrounded by the entire junior class, but I ended up having a great night,” Yeo said.
