The cold season has officially begun. The leaves are changing, the rain is pouring, and it’s finally time to pull out your warm sweaters from the back of your closet. Fall and winter fashion trends change yearly, from the classic 2010s skinny jeans to the latest chunky sweaters. But what are this year’s fashion trends?
Cute-yet-comfortable clothes have had a popular reputation. Although, this year, we’re seeing a different approach. With clothing being both warm and comfortable, but stylish at the same time. The feeling of going out in an outfit that makes you feel confident and chic, while keeping you warm, is irreplaceable. These come in different types of apparels, such as jackets, going out tops, jeans, even shoes. And are often promoted on social media platforms, with influencers and brands advertising them as comfortable, affordable, and, of course, cute.
Common fall fashion trends are brown and neutral tones, some leather, sweaters, cozy and put-together looks. According to Vogue Fashion’s “11 Key Fall 2025 Fashion Trends to Know and Shop” article, the most seen and favored fashion trends this season are lots of red looks, high or neck-up styles. As well as keeping clothes minimalistic but having bold textures, colors, or patterns, country coded, and unique color combinations. These trends will definitely be popular this year and will likely be seen when walking down the street or scrolling through social media.
Although these trends may be popular among a wide range of people, the younger crowds have their own trends this year. The trends still partially alignthe trends still partially align, but the fashion seen in Vogue is not the same as we see at Miramonte. “I think that UGG slippers, sweaters, puffers, and more oversized things are in fashion right now. Also, things like boots and skirts, and layering clothes,” sophomore Sara Bandini said. As it gets colder, more students at Miramonte bundle up into their sweaters, puffers, and the brown/neutral color palettes more regularly.
Being that fashion is something that is constantly changing, something that was popular one year may not the next year. Trends from ten years ago aren’t seen as much now. But, trends come back. When fashion trends come back they’re usually not exactly the same, something has usually been altered or changed. For example low-rise have come back, back in the 2000s when you’d see low-rise the pants would be tight, now, low-rise is back and very popular. This time it’s with a more baggy or wide-legged look. “If there were any styles that I’d want to come back to, it’d probably be layering. Not like how it was in the 2000s though, just with things like coats and sweaters… especially in the winter, because it’s so cold,” sophomore Anaia Singh said.
Fashion is diverse, and this 2025 fall/winter season proves that more than ever. Everyone has their own style, whether that is minimalistic, minimalist, streetwear, or sporty, there is a wide range of styles out there. When walking down the street these next few months, expect to see various styles being sported and interpreted in unique ways.
