With fall sports coming to an end, it’s time to take a look back at how Miramonte’s teams performed this season. From championship runs to incredible moments, the Mats demonstrated talent across the board. Let’s take a look at the achievements and accomplishments of the Mats this fall season.
Football:
The football team ended their season with a 6-7 record, including big wins over Benicia and College Park. The team capped off their season with a Division 6 finals appearance.
“We had a great season overall and reached NCS finals, but we came up a little short,” sophomore George Gilbert said, “Even though we came up short this year we will be back better than ever next year.”
Jack Quinnild ‘25, Carson Blair ‘26, and Andrew Davenport ‘25 earned First Team all-league honors, and Harry Smith ‘25 earned Second Team all-league on offense and Davenport for defense. Including all league honorable mentions for George Gilbert ‘27, Gavin San Gabriel ‘25, and Preston Hawthorn ‘25.
Cross Country:
Cross Country had a stellar season, placing third in DAL, 4th in NCS, and 7th at state. Miramonte had 12 boys under 5:00 in the 1600m led by Logan Letulle ‘26 and James Jenkins ‘25 making them the fastest varsity boys cross country team in Miramonte history.
“I feel like our team was extremely successful because of our younger runners, ” Senior Louie Windhurst said, “we were hoping to do a little better in the postseason but overall we accomplished a lot of great things.”
Led by Isabel Mickel ‘28, Alana Jardine ’26, and Teia Adler ‘26, the girls were able to place 4th in DAL and 6th overall in NCS. The girls had six runners under 6:00 in the 1600m, making them one of the fastest girls’ teams in Miramonte history.
Boys Water Polo: With a 17-11 overall record, the boys water polo team made a splash, finishing second in league and reaching the NCS championship game (lost in triple overtime to De La Salle) before advancing to state.
“I think our team did not initially accomplish what we wanted to,” Senior captain, Jack Rohr, said, “but we finished out our season strong and did well in both state and NCS.”
They had an outstanding game against rival Campolindo, beating them by 16 goals, 25-9. Both seniors Patrick Stice and Griffin Tunney are committed to UC Berkeley and Brown University.
Girls Water Polo: The girls water polo team capped off their season with a 17-7 record with two wins over Sacred Heart – the number one team in the country according to Maxpreps.
“I think the team did well this season. Although we didn’t win NCS or CIF, I think we improved a lot and should be proud of ourselves” Junior Kate Liu said.
Ally Larsen ‘25 and Allison Sagara ‘25 led the team, helping them finish third in NCS open division and second in league. Five girls are set to play at the collegiate level: Sagara and Larsen to UCLA, Audrina Kang ‘25 to Indiana, Marta Maninetti ‘25 to UCSB, and Charlee Spence ‘25 to Occidental.
Flag Football: The flag football team made significant improvements, finishing with a 5-11 record and 5-7 in league play, making improvements from their previous one win season. With a 5th place finish in league, the program’s progress signals even more potential for the years to come.
Girls Tennis:
Lady Mats tenis had an amazing season with an overall record of 20-3 and going 10-0 in league play finishing the season off with a NCS semi finals appearance. They also had two outstanding wins against Campolindo. Caitlin Chan and Maddie Silveira had a great season winning individual DAL doubles and reaching the finals of individual NCS doubles.
Girls Golf:
Girls Golf had an incredible year, taking fourth in the DAL tournament and earned themselves a qualification for NCS Division 2. They also had some great wins against Acalanes and Campo, led by league MVP Paige Sovocool ‘25.
